Oh hai down there by Serge-Salvatrice Oh hai down there by Serge-Salvatrice
For :iconriotaiprower:
Looks like Sega leveled up Reia. She is still no where near Sega's height, maybe only 1/4 her size.
Tried more of that pesky perspective and coloring. I am glad that at least the coloring look as bland as it was, but I suck badly with colors so I don't know how to mix them well. Sega was suppose to have more of a super heroine build to her, which this doesn't quite fit. (more hulkish than super heroine)

Looking for critique on coloring.

Sega and Serge are mine.

It looks very nice but the tones in the colors are greenish. It kind of reminds me of one of my one hour speedpaints I did where I had the same problem. [link]
Have you tried color correcting after coloring you artwork? That often works for me. Still, other than the green tone you seem to be improving.

Also, as the dude under my comment said, the sun looks rather yellow. While it is indeed a yellow star, we tend to see the sun as white from our perspective because the spectrum is affected depending on temperature. During the day, it shows off all the colors of the spectrum, which all mix into white. When you have a sunset, it is mostly yellow like looking. Still the main center will always look white even if the color surrounding the sun is different. Just because it appears yellow in earth's atmosphere doesn't mean you should necessarily make it that way in your drawings. It depends on spectrum.

It may sound like boring sciency stuff that I am bad at explaining but it can help you understand more about color if you read into it. =)

D: It is greenish? ;A;
No I didn't use anything else to correct color when I was done.

Actually I love science, I'm majoring in it. The sun emits white light which contains all the colors in the spectrum. When the light particles hit the Earth's atmosphere, the blue light is filtered which makes the sky look blue. Since the red light is left behind, that can give the appearance of a yellowish sun.
The reason why I did the sun the way I did was because it didn't look right when I made it mostly white. I figured that some color would make it look better. You know that I struggle with coloring. Maybe I should have added some orange in there....

The Sun is a yellow star, but the Earth's atmosphere makes the Sun look more yellow than it appears than if you were to observe it from space where it would appear more white than yellow.

The angle and perspective of this piece was done very well! :) The shading on the legs for the muscle on the was a little dark for the definition but I think that it is a matter for debate. The meek angle is very hard to pull off, especially with shading it in so I say that I really like how it turned out! :) I would be honored if I can request a POV picture simular to this one! :) Thank you for sharing this with us! :) PG

Thanks so much for this! I can't understand how you fret over your coloring so much. The result turned out amazing. I think you just worried too much about it.
I'm still so uncomfortable with the idea of Reia being rather... tall >_> But I like the perspective you used. It really shows the height intended in the image.
I really love those clouds

I'm not sure why you diss your coloring so much. I think you have improved a lot. You should look back at your old drawings to see what I mean. Sure there is room for improvement, but it doesn't mean that you have not made progress.

I compare myself with others too much as well. I find that it only really makes you feel worse about yourself. I guess the only thing that the both of us can do is work towards improving. Maybe someday we'll be at a semi comfortable level.

You really should do life studies even if you find them boring. I believe that it would help a lot with your coloring/shading.
